This is an impressive 48 star American flag measuring about 8' x 11½'. The 48 star design was the official U.S. flag from July 4, 1912 to July 4, 1959, flying through both World Wars and the Korean War. This example is an original U.S. piece associated with the World War II era.
There are no visible maker’s marks, but the construction strongly supports its authenticity: six rows of eight stitched stars, sewn (not printed) stripes, brass grommets, and applied white stars. The flag shows some staining and a small hole from age and use; photos capture all noted wear.
Its large size makes it a standout example and far harder to find than standard dimensions.
